urban chickens

anyone here raise chickens in an urban or suburban environment?

i have been researching raising a few bantam hens, primarily for the eggs and free fertilizer. i have an ideal fenced in backyard with plenty of shade, weeds and insects and am leaning towards either an A frame portable coop or a central permanent coop with a large moveable run. the only predators i need to deal with are a couple of stray cats who keep the rodents in check.

chickens are legal in my city and i am not going to have a rooster so there is no noise issue.

chickens are considered livestock here and are thus illegal to own and possess with in our city.

We are considering getting some chickens also. More for meat though.
