Here is the fine print... you need a lot of dough to get this...
$50 for a $1500 deposit is a 3.33% return on investment. You might as well put it in a CD for 60 days and get a higher ROI.

*Offer Details

To receive this offer, customer must open and fund a new Regular Checking account online by 3/31/01 with a minimum opening deposit of $1,500. $50 credit will be credited to your account within 60 days following opening and funding. If you then pay 2 bills online by 5/31/01, an additional $50 credit will be credited to your account within 60 days of the end of the statement period on which the second bill payment appears. Basic Checking and existing accounts do not qualify for this offer. One offer per customer. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer. All accounts are subject to approval. Offers are available for US residents only. Taxes, if any are the responsibility of the customer. Offer may be modified or withdrawn at anytime without notice. Mukzz, that's a 3.33% rate of return in 60 days. Where are you going to find a CD that gives that much return in 60 days? You will be lucky to find one that gives you 7%(annually) which comes out to less than 1.2% for 60 days.

If you pay two more bills online, they will give you another $50.

Possibly better - Citibank is also offering a Palm M100 for opening a checking account with $2500

Posted a day or two ago on another website - and so probably on Anandtech too.
I don't think you have to leave your money in for 60 days. But there is something about the M100 shipping somewhere during the first 60 days after the acct is open. I would leave it open till I had the bird in the hand...

It is easier to open an ETrade account thru Buy.Com and get a $100 GC. I received it in 3 weeks. You have to deposit $1000 in the account though. Got me an X-Gamer 5.1 and a nice book to go with it!
