Is there a quick and easy way to find the uptime in WinXP Professional?

In Win2K I'm sure it showed it on the task manager but not XP..oh no...that would be too easy.

The only way, I've found is to look at the connection time on my Cable internet network adaptor but thats hardly a solution.

Cheers

I use the command line based uptime.exe on my system. Would that work? Here is the link. <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/management/uptime/default.asp" target=blank>

Just open a CMD prompt and type

net statistics workstation

then hit the Enter key. The first line will tell you the last time the workstation service was started. You could also use "net statistics server", too.

Ya, I wasn't thinking about that. The systeminfo command actually gives you "uptime". I'm just used to using the slightly more efficient net statistics command and seeing the date and time of the last startup.

If you turn on the CPU Time column in task manager, the time listed for the system idle process will give you a good approximation.

Unless of course you run a Distributed Computing Project, in which case, System Idle Process will be on 0:00 ;)

Of course I use systeminfo to give me the uptime, or alternatively I look in on my desktop :)

I leave mine on 24/7 but I don't bother looking at uptime. I have to do a restart at least once a week to fix a hole that MS found. ;)

Edit/ confused I just checked out your desktop, very cool indeed.
