Ok, I was expecting a huge increase in fps after upgrading from a 2 year old geforce 3 ti200 tp an ati radeon 9600 pro, but so far it has been very disappointing. My fps are unchanged in unreal tourn 2003 and enemy territory. Has anyone else experienced and fixed this? I've installed the latest catalyst driver. Directx9.0b, new drivers for all the other components.

Surely, hopefully, something is wrong....

Any tips are appreciated.

UT2003 fps: 40ish
ET: 30-90

barton 2500 not oc'd

ati radeon 9600 pro

Switching from Nvidia to ATI and ATI to Nvidia doesn't allways play nice driver-wise. Did you use any sort of Nvidia driver cleaner program? Sometimes the only cure to get the new card working properly is to do a fresh install of your OS. If you happen to have another HDD lying around, you could format that up, install OS fresh on that, Install Catylyst drivers and such and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then you know your problem for sure. I can't see you being CPU bound wich could explain the same frame rates.

Thanks for the tips.

Well, I reinstalled WinXP and am seeing no change. Still getting 40-90 fps in Enemy Territory. The exact same that I was getting with my geforce3 ti200. Also, the radeon seems to stutter more often than the geforce3. One thing that I can't figure out is how to diasble Anisotropic Filtering. I've tried disabling AA in opengl apps, but the minimum AF that I can set is 2x. Does anyone know what kind of settings I should use? My interest lies with performance over quality of picture. ET (based off Q3 engine) uses OpenGL, right?

I couldn't find much info on a Highpoint controller. Not sure what that is. The hard drives are IDE...

Highpoint controller is the onboard RAID controller.

Even if you do not use the RAID, you need to make sure the
driver is installed and does not have an ERROR/CONFLICT in
DEVICE MANAGER.

Here is the link to the DRIVER/MANUAL page:AK35GTR

Model AK35GT/R

There is also a AK35GT2/R version of the maniboard:
