I have a 1000VA UPS that will run the system in my sig for about 20-23 minutes.

For 90 min. of run time, you'll need a heavy duty UPS. Whether you get a generator or not would depend on how and when you need power.

1) If you need instant on power back with no shut down at all, you should go with the heavy duty UPS.

2) If you can shut down and then restart, go with a small VA UPS with 10-15 minutes of runtime and voltage regulation. If you know you're out of power for an extended period, fire up the gen, plug the UPS into it and you'll have lots of run time and the UPS will clean up the power the gen produces which will keep your system safe.

I have an APC Smart-UPS 1500 that should run my computer for about 90 minutes. If you want to run that long you'll need a unit with pretty big batteries. APC has some good deals on their Factory Outlet
