UPS vs. FedEx

I order a lot of parts from different companies around the country. When I specify FedEx as my shipper, I always get a quick shipment and it's delivered in the morning. When UPS delivers, it usually arrives late in the day-around 7:00 pm. I know its because its being delivered to a residential address, but it screws me up if I'm trying to get a system ready for one of my customers. Is this a personal problem, or is one shipper better than the other where you're at?
 
If it's that important, you may want to specify morning delivery for UPS. I think you'll have to pay more for that, though.

Their routes are different. You may just be at the end of the UPS one, and towards the beginning of the FedEx route.
 
UPS is run by a group of untrained apes, as far as i can tell. Packages always come quicker and in better condition from fedex or USPS.
 
i gotta agree...ups comes at random times, and many times i've noticed they get out of their trucks and chuck the package about 15-20 feet to my porch (lazy ba$tards)
 
When I'm shipping stuff out, I take it to OfficeDepot-where it sits all day waiting for pickup. That doesn't bother me... but when I take it to the UPS Facility, it still sits there all day. I think I'll be using the USPS more from now on.
 
I second the notion of UPS being slower, more careless, and even more expensive vs. the same item at FedEx.

I try to ship with FedEx whenever possible because it seems like they really are trying harder to give better prices and ship quicker.
 
FedEx ground is the best all round. I think they teamed up with DHS and that is why FedEx is cheaper for ground now.

But I use USPS and FedEx. UPS has damaged a lot of my shipments and always is late. I have a good UPS guy but the people that have my package before he gits it is te reason I don't like them.
