I think our new place has "bad power" or some type of interference..
When you switch off the fan and the light at once in our bathroom, a "network cable unplugged" for a split second..

The picture on my 19" FD trin is wavy and shaky.
Would a UPS possibly help this out?

Thanks,

Rubens

Is your monitor near a wall? You could have a power conduit running behind the monitor. Our old building had a few offices that were setup like this. They kept switching out monitors until they realized it was the power conduit in the wall causing it.

Hahaah..
I think there is one actually! At least somewhere close on the side of the house..conduit meaning where they read the meters and stuff right?

Just move the monitor farther from the wall and see if it still happens (and the case too :) )

A UPS will help with power problems, but not mag fields created by the nearby wiring.

It depends. Is the picture 'wavy' or jittering? If it's wavy, it sounds like it's an EMI problem, so it might be interference from the wiring in the wall. You can either move the monitor away from the wall, or put some sort of shielding up (aluminum foil on the walls might work, but that would be pretty ghetto looking).

If it's jittering, it could be dirty power coming from your lines. In which case a UPS might just fix that... but not any UPS. You need ones with Line Conditioning built in. Only the higher end APC UPSes have those. Don't go for the 'AVR's one... so called Automatic Voltage Regulators.... they don't do jack. They'll help with brownouts and stuff, but they won't clean your lines like a Line Conditioner would.

if you have metal baking sheets made of steel or some sort of iron, put it behind the monitor, and see what happens?

the post before this one has some good information (AL may not work as well as steel)

anyway

check that your outlets are properly grounded as well. some surge protectors have a light which goes on if proper grounding is present.

the picture is simply shaky..and it varies..I wonder how much those high end APC's cost?
