UPS proposing to add Sunday delivery

UPS is currently negotiating with the union to potentially start Sunday deliveries. This will not only be for Amazon, but for all shippers. Still, this gives Amazon an alternative to Amazon Logistics or the USPS for Sunday deliveries, particularly for packages that are heavy, high value, or can't effectively be routed through Amazon's ground linehaul network or through Amazon Air, both of which feed into Amazon Logistics or the USPS for last mile delivery.

I've actually gotten stuff delivered during the weekend a few times or past 5 during the week. Always catches me by surprise! It's not the norm though. It's usually private delivery companies that will deliver off normal hours. I think Canada Post sometimes offloads packages to local couriers. Sometimes it's just a guy in an unmarked van.

Generally if it's past 5 on Friday and I didn't get my package yet I don't expect it until Monday, so while it's pretty nice getting stuff on the weekend I can live without it.

I've had deliveries on Sundays from Amazon. It's pretty nice.

Yes, Amazon offers Sunday deliveries either through Amazon Logistics or the U.S. Postal Service. If UPS adds Sunday delivery it will give Amazon a third carrier option. This could potentially be useful for items that are heavy, high value, or those that cannot be effectively routed through Amazon's ground linehaul network or Amazon Air. This could also give customers the option for paid One-Day shipping where they can order on Saturday and have their item delivered on Sunday from anywhere in the Amazon fulfillment center network.
