I'm thinking of getting some type of power surge for my comp since the power goes out for a fraction of a second every now and then at my house.

First - Does anyone install the software for their power surge? or do you just wait till it starts to beep, then turn it off. While away from home, pray that the power comes back on before the ups dies.

second - what ups do i need for my rig? I have a 2500+ barton, 512mb, gf3 ti200 128, 5 hard drives, cdrw, ata pci card, sound card, 550watt antec psu, 19" iiyama crt.

Thanks

I would say that you need a ups in the 700va or higher range. I personally have never used the shut-down software. If I'm at the machine, I save and shut down. If I am not at the machine, there is nothing to save so I don't worry about it.
