I didn't know this stuff, but I just read this article: http://www.falconups.com/ups/ups-tutorial.htm

Talks about the 3 types of "UPS" backups out there:

OFF-LINE (SBS), the lowest grade

LINE-INTERACTIVE (SBS), the middle grade

ON-LINE (UPS), the highest grade

How do I know which one I'm buying? No one really mentions what type it is, everything is labeled "UPS". Or are they all on-line nowadays?

For example, this place makes a distinction:

Standby: http://www.winotek.com/items.asp?CC=251
Line Interactive: http://www.winotek.com/items.asp?CC=250

Thanks, I was actually looking at that, noticed a lot of CyberPower backups had it, but not really listed on APC ones. I always thought APC was the cream of the crop. Or do they call it something different? Or am I wrong all this time?

Right, but how do I tell what type of UPS they have, standby or line-interactive (doubt they sell consumer level Online)?

APC uses the term "automatic voltage regulation (AVR)" for their units equipped with that feature.
