UPS leaving packages that require signature...

Well today I am expecting my Axim x50v... I am one of those odd people who actually have to go to work and can't wait for a package all day. So, as usual, I leave a note outside for the guy that is specifically addressed to UPS and has my signature and all... and they don't leave it... wtf?

So is that supposed to be acceptable or what? Were the guys just bending the rules before? Or was this guy just a tard?

The policy changed a couple of years ago. They did away with signing the notice left on the door. Something about having to actually witness the signature. I think you can put a signature on file with them (have to go down to their office) so that they will always just leave it.

If the driver doesn't feel it's safe (theft, weather) to leave it unattended then they have every right in that regard.

i also kinda wonder, since i have started working i cant be at home to get them and always end up having to drive 30-60 min. each way to the ups place to pick it up...it really sucks i wish they could just leave it

to be left at your front door for everyone to see?

If it were up to me
I'd wait a day (or three)
to make sure that PPC
is safe and sound and someone won't think it's for them for free

well of course, thats why i want it to be if i leave a note...obviously then i wouldnt..

Be careful with this. I don't know if it's UPS or Fedex that does this but once that waiver is on file for your address, it remains in effect until you explicitly remove it. They apparently don't periodically re-verify. The upshot is this: the people who lived at your address before you may have a submitted such a waiver and unless you explicitly remove it, it's still in effect.

If you don't want things left unattended on your doorstep, you should call each delivery company and ensure that such a waiver is not on file. Someone on another forum lost some very expensive telescope gear because he was unaware of a waiver on file for his address.
