-750.00
----------
$1040.00

Well they had the insane $750 off coupon that I found out about like 1 hour before it was over so I had to order one. Problem is I don't know jack about laptops..now I'm realizing the X300 is low low end (shoulda got the 6800 but don't think it was an option). Basically wanted a cheap laptop, but now thinking I want more.

Keep or send back is the question.

the notebook with the 6800 is considerably larger, and quite a bit pricier, iirc. that is, if the coupon even applied.

Well for one you can't just upgrade the video yourself so I would suggest if you want a higher end video card to send it back and get the higher end video. Also, monitor size is a must for myself.

I plan on purchasing a 600m in the near distant future.

No that's the same price I got mine for; it's wonderful for gaming. Was able to play HL2/CS:S in widescreen with no stutter, good framerates. WoW is incredible in widescreen as well. I've actually been playing games on my I6000 more than my AMD64 machine.

My suggestion to you would also get 1 GB of memory, Newegg has great prices; I think I picked up another 512 MB DDR2 ram for around $55.

I have one that I'm typingo on right now. I like it. I haven't done any serious gaming stuff on it yet, but it packs quite a punch. Unfortunately, I have the 64MB version of the X300, but since most of my gaming involves all the nostalgia games I'm not overally concerned. for the price you got a good deal. Granted if you wanted better you would have to pay for it. I go my lappy for $900, but it's also refurbished. My only complaint was all the programs Dell decides to include with the computer. You'll be spending a good day removing all the unwanted stuff. If $1000 is your budget I wouldn't send the computer back there's not many other laptops that compare dollar for dollar.
