UPS - IBM Off Prof 500VA - $69 after MIR at CC B&M - Reg $129

Ran across this in-store special today.

Circuit City is selling the IBM Office Professional UPS 500VA for $99. $30 MIR get printed out at checkout time.
$99-30=$69

This UPS is a Tripplite. Very good deal.

Suggested retail is $129.00

Well, at MY CC two $30 rebates printed out at purchase, for a net before tax cost of $39.99. Only thing is both rebates require the original UPC to accompany the rebate submittal.

The SC (sales clerk - we need more acronyms!) read through the rebates with me and said to just send a copy of the UPC with one of the rebates, with a note referencing the other rebate. It may work, or add a phone call when the first rebate arrives to prompt them for the other (which worked for me to get both my Tivo rebates from them).

Both rebates are sent to Circuit City. The two rebates are to different departments so it might work. Have the SC make a note on the receipt to accept a copy of the receipt, but don't be upset if you only get one $30 check in the mail.

The 500VA is $109.99 - 30 - 30 = $49.99
The 700VA is $149.99 - 30 - 30 = $89.99

I got the 700VA, and did it for in-store pick up. That way I don't waste a trip (sold out) and they don't charge extra.

Note that you pay tax on the PRE rebate amount. so in my case:
$149.99 + Tax - $30 - $30 = $89.99 + TaxOn$149.99.

Just go to CircuitCity.com and put "IBM" in the search field, first two items it finds.

Mythman: Can you revise the subject to relfect the ven better $49 price and that this isn't just B&M?

A couple things: The web site CLEARLY implies that BOTH rebates can be applied... so it has to be legit.

I suspect the main reason these are such a good deal is that they are older models. The specifications show they have DB9 RS232 serial ports and the newer ones I see at at buy.com have USB ports.

Hell, 9 port serial is FINE for these, that is what most software supports (Windows 2000 / Windows NT will work with these out of the box). Plus, the USB ones are more expensive... waste.

Mythman - I suspect your "in store special" was the $10 off that made you start at $99... I doubt that is nationwide? I'll find out when I go pick mine up in Seattle.

Hmm...Since when is $49.99 less than $39.99? And there were lots of the 500 VA's at my CC today, so there's no shortage yet, it appears. And if there's shipping charges, this guy's kinda heavy!

What the heck do you mean $49 less than $39? My message (posted before you posted yours) clearly shows that the "special" might be $10 cheaper in-store.

The 700 wasn't even mentioned in the first post. What is HOTTER is the 700. You do it online and you can do instore pickup and don't pay any more than you would at the store.

I went to my local CC B&M, Springfield VA. I bought the 500VA model, (shelf price $99) and received two rebate coupons ($30@) which go to slightly different departments. Pretty good UPS for $39 plus tax.

You got it right, kof, the in store $40 deal on the 500 VA UPS is the hot deal here, so long as both rebates are honored. And they will be honored, right gang?

Question: Is this the TrippLite Internet Office 700 UPS? It says on CC link --> IBM OfficePro 700 UPS. The specs look the same checking the TrippLite web site...

Anyway, serial is a big plus for those running Linux/BSD so you can take advantage of automatic unattended shutdown. If you haven't used NUT(Network UPS Tools), check it out. NUT site

If you check the compatiblity list, the TrippLite Internet Office series is supported. This is great for those of us running firewalls in CA.

Well, I'm picked a 700 up. We'll see how it goes. $149 - $60 MIR isn't bad for a 700VA with serial connection. Plus free shipping since I'm picking it up at the local B&M.

I'm hoping NUT will work with this model...
