UPS Help: Shipping from Canada to US

Trying to ship a gift to the US and have no freaking clue as to how UPS online shipping works. I got the customs form but have no idea about tariff codes, brokers, shippers identification number etc.

Are there different forms for regular shipments and commercial shipments?

I tried calling UPS but they were no help

Use Canada Post, they're much easier on all parties involved.

Go to a UPS shipping outlet and have them do it perhaps?

Either way, that whole "broker" thing is what causes you to get reamed for extra costs at the border.

"Oh, you don't have your own personal international package broker? Well, you can use ours, at the cost of YOUR CORNHOLE. *reaming commences*"

Bring Vaseline.
