UPS hates me...

I used to wonder why people would post FedEx vs UPS threads, thinking "come on people they are exactly the same."

Today I got a grim dose of reality.

It started last night. UPS tried to deliver my package but I wasn't home. That's fine, I'll just get it after I get home from work. No problem because I do this with FedEx all the time. Well it turns out that UPS only lets you pick up if you specially request it and they are only open 8:00AM-6:00PM. That's cool. It's inconvenient, but I'll just use my lunch hour to go and get it. After 30 minutes of driving and 20 minutes in line they trell me that the package is on the truck to be delivered to my apartment.

"We double checked and it says the package is supposed to be here, but it isn't. It's on the truck. Try again tomorrow."

?!?!?!?

Their only saving grace it that they're going to see if the driver can try to deliver it again after 6:00 since it was their mistake.

When I was living at my apartment, and had something delivered by UPS, I left a note saying I work during the day, and to leave the package in the mail area/lobby... they did just that, no questions asked 🙂

It's always good to call to see if the package is still on the truck. If it is, they can't give it to you due to legal issues. If I'm going to pick my package up, I always call ahead with the details.

I wish I could do that. My place doesn't have a lobby or place to leave things. Also, my order was a new monitor so I didn't want to risk it being stolen. I've got to find out about getting it shipped c/o my work so I can get it there. That would be so much easier if they'll let me.

I would be more worried about it arriving in one piece.

If that happens it is not my problem. Their insurance will cover it. If I say to leave it and it is stolen, I am out 1 monitor.

definately call ahead and get the name of the guy you talked to. Otherwise, 90% of the time it is a wasted trip unless you live in a very small town
