Hi, I am trying to calculate my UPS requirement. For a desktop PC with i9-9900K and RTX2080Ti, what is the recommended VA value for UPS?

Kill A Watt meter. I've had mine for nearly 20 years...still use it.

I've been buying 1500W units for my desktops for a while. It's way overkill for some of them (only need 400W), the good thing with a bigger UPS is an increase in run time.

What's the point of a UPS? Surge is what kills systems and if you're looking for uptime you need a nat gas generator.

UPS have built in surge protection. Separate from that, they're very useful for frequent brown outs (I live in Hawaii). AVR corrects the voltage dips I see frequently. A UPS is basically mandatory where I live. A nat gas generator isn't an option on the third story of an apartment building.

@tablespoon 1) Use a kill-a-watt meter to get an idea of idle and loaded power usage on your connected devices. Then buy a unit that is at least 50% over that amount.

I recently purchased an EATON 5S1500LCD 1500VA 900W unit for my 660W Platinum PSU system (5950X + Vega 64). In addition I have my NAS (10W), 1 5-port switch, 1 raspberry pi, and my router/modem attached. All of the above maxes out around 600W (only briefly - sustained loads are closer to 450W) so I still have 300W of "space" on my UPS rating.
