I'm going to be running my desktop and a home server 24/7 this summer, and we're prone to little blackouts during this time. What's the way to look for a UPS? I'm not real sure what i'm looking for for the wattage rating, my initial impression was the sum of the power supplies for each system.

Any info you can offer up would be great. I know these things can get expensive, so i want to get it right the first time.

What's your budget and do both systems need saving? I'd imagine that your server could insta-shut down via usb while the UPS keeps the main rig going for a few minutes as you shut down and save work, giving you a little leeway with the UPS.

I'd probably go with this APC unit giving me some spare time on the main machine and having the server shut down instantly on power loss.

That one fits my budget perfectly. How do you know what wattage you need out of a UPS? Could i connect both systems to the 780w you mentioned?
