I ordered a bandsaw and a few accessories from a company called Grizzly, which should be familiar to woodworkers here.

Well I ordered at 11:30 AM one day, and I found a message the next day on my answering with a time stamp of about 9:00 AM. It was the local freight company asking if they could drop my things.

I have to wait till Monday because of scheduling issues on my end, but I could have had 350+ lbs of machinery delivered to my door in less than 24 hours.

YAY!

You probably paid a bundle for shipping too. I'm just fine dealing with UPS/FedEx antics if it only costs me $8 to ship my package.

It did cost. However UPS won't touch anything this heavy. It was in line with normal freight charges, in fact less than many would have billed. Point is they had it to me in no time flat.

That speaks well for Grizzly, who has a great reputation for customer service anyway.

Good point...if it was reasonably priced per pound, more power to them.

Also, I believe FedEx has a freight division. I wonder how their prices compare.
