my dad sent his brother a new pc a few days ago, it got there today, and turns out it was totally destroyed.the harddrive was dislodged, part of the motherboard was broken off, wires disconnected, the box had a large gash in it, ect.

i was wondering for those that have had this happen what are the chances that they will do the right thing without much hassle?aslo they want the receipt for the pc, we ordered all the parts off newegg so we didn't really get one, will a printed invoice work?

thanks 🙁

Good luck, who packed the PC? Did you let UPS do it or did you do it yourself? Hope your brother kept all the packaging they may ask you to show it to them, they might be able to prove you did not pack it correctly if you didn?t.

If you did pack it correctly you will need to show them as much of the receipts as you can, they may only be liable for the physically broken parts?

we packed it, the same way we packed the pc that was sent to his sister a few years ago, which arrived fine, and without a big hole in the box. will the newegg invoice be enough or do you need to show a creditcard receipt maybe?

Please explain how the "harddrive was dislodged". Were the screws used to mount the harddrive broken off? Otherwise I don't understand how it could be dislodged.

Also, what "part of the motherboard was broken off"? And was this due to the hard drive becoming dislodged?

i'd like to know that myself, but the thing's in texas and i just overheard about it while my dad was talking to his brother over the phone.i don't have much to do with the whole thing, but i feel really bad about it anyhow so i thought i could get a headstart and see if anyone had any advice.
