Ups Damage claim.

We ordered a microwave i think from bestbuy or sears.com. Today the box came but inside was the microwave with the foam sides to protect it from any damage. I opened the box and took it out and i see the window that you look at your flood through is cracked (the glass). Theres noway were paying usps to ship the heavy thing back. Is it true that ups will come back and pick it up if it was damaged by them?

yes call them and tell them you need someone to inspect it.

UPS or USPS? you mention both.

With UPS it's hard sometimes esp if not double boxed....USPS and FedEx pay claims a little easier in my experience.

My worst was on UPS package sitting 6 months for 'investigation', it was double boxed, foam lined outer shell, blow in foam inner box and and obvious 6" hole in the side + crushed corners (my bet is it was kicked off a dock and allowed to roll down the ramp)....I finally gave up and took it back....turned out a single led light was knocked loose.

I just got a TV that toshiba is having me get checked out....arrived via UPS with two dented corners and the inner styrofoam broken to hell....only a 14" set 30lbs.

I hate UPS's treatment of packages, I have yet to get more than 3 boxes in a row from them without visible damage, I only had one problem with FedEx Ground and they agreed to pay almost instantly.

I mention both because that was the only way i knew to ship things back.. by going to the post office. I wasnt sure if ups would come back out so now were going to call for the inspector to come out. \\

We brought it online and the receipt is on the box. Can you return it to the store (bestbuy) and get the money back or exchange. (we want the exchange btw)Instead of having ups come out.

YMMV but usually no....your best bet for that is to claim a gift and no reciept and exchange or get credit...these are not honest approaches though and even then sometimes the online product has a different sku.
