UPS Claim/What to do?

I'll just keep it short and straight to the point:

I bought a PS2 from someone on here. Got it, package looked a little beat up but nothing terrible but ps2 itself was damaged. More than one thing was wrong with it. The power ribbon, controller ribbon and dvd drive were all faulty. Seller tells me to file claim with UPS so I give him my info and he files supposedly. Thought this was a little weird from the begining but he said it worked perfectly when he shipped it out. Now, I started purchasing the parts to correct the problem spent $25 so far so I was pretty pissed when he announced to me that if UPS keeps it after the claim goes through he'll still keep the ps2 even though he'll be compensated for it already.

My first question is does UPS usually discard the damaged items or do they return them to the buyer or seller?

My second question is wtf should I do? I'm pretty pissed as is, I spent my own money on top of my own time (about 3 hrs) messing with it to get it working so, so.

Any help is appreciated [/rant]

k im a little confused. I woulda just had him refund it all, and you ship it back. He can do the claims or w/e he wants, you shouldn't have to deal with it.

wait, if you filed a claim with ups, why wouldn't you wait before it goes through before you start buying parts to fix it?

Let me put it differently, he was the one that filed it.

Editted in orig post.

I can see where you were confused now. I had "Buyer" there instead of "Seller" I edited it now. Sorry about that.

well to answer your first question, im pretty sure that ups will ship the damaged package (i work for ups, and i see damaged packages all the time, they just tell us to load them), and when the package is delivered, you're supposed to make a note of the damages if you're going to file a claim.

let me get this straight. you received the damaged ps2, and then he (supposedly) files a complaint on your behalf, then claims he's going to keep the money AND the ps2.

1) why does he have the ps2?
2) why didn't you file the claim yourself?

1) He doesn't I have it I haven't even paid him yet due to my pretty good heat I got him to ship first.

2) Because he said he was already filling it out.

He filed a claim on his own behalf, but he needed my personal info to file it so I gave it to him. He said even if he gets the claim he'll take the PS2 back. Seems kinda unethical to me. Honestly, I'm not saying I want it for free or anything but especially after getting most the parts to fix it already I'd like to keep it.

well if he gets the claim, i'd keep the ps2.

EDIT: i'd also contact UPS about it to make sure he doesn't try to screw you and say he never got the claim or something like that.

Thanks for the input.

I think your best bet is to stop dealing online...

All I see is your posts where someone ripped you or did something wrong that you are bitching about and not just on this site I know I saw your pleadings on a couple other sites..😕

Just goto the store dude you have no luck buying on the web.....😉
