UPS Battery Safety

I am think about getting a UPS for my Bed room computer.
Is it safe to keep these type of battery in the bed room? Do they leak and give out gas?

They won't off-gas, but in a world of possibilities, there is an extreme possibility that they could leak.
You're not planning on storing the UPS on a shelf over your bed are you?

SLA UPS batteries generally don't leak but they may gas ever so slightly, but not enough to be any sort of problem. They are perfectly safe to have in your room.

On a side note, when the batteries do die they have a tendency to puff up and often split open their casing. This sometimes wedges them in the UPS making them hard to remove however they still don't usually leak as the electrolyte is suspended in the battery.
