I need to buy an Upright Vacuum that is lite (less than 15lbs.),less than $200, and yet powerful enough to pick up dirt off my carpet. Anyone have a name/model# for a vacuum that fits my needs? Thanks.
 
you could use this guy i know, he really sucks 😛

lowes has some hoovers that are pretty good. spent $189 on one and has been real good, it's bagless and messy as hell though 🙁
 
Yeah, Lowes has the best prices by far. Looked around for a Hoover wind tunnel(rated best by consumer reports) everybody had it for $329, Lowes had it for $279.
 

All upright vacuum are the same. Look for one that have the least feature and attachments, because they are last longer. Most vacuum at 7.5amps will do the job for the average home, but you could get 12amps vacuum if you think you need it. In reality the 12apms is about 20% more powerful than the 7.5amps vacuum. It is not the suction that you need to worry about, because brush is the part that do most of the job, and all brushes are very much the same.
 
I have one of those Eureka BOSS 12.0 amp uprights that I got at Walmart a while back. It gets the job done, and was only like 80 bucks.

The orecks are good..my dad is manager of a hotel and they bought oreks..they are strong.light.and good...but the belts and the bags are diff then regular..special order from them i think.
 
We have a Fantom that really sucks. 🙂
It might be more than 15bs though. I am always amazed at the amount of stuff it picks up. Sometimes I think it might actually be manufacturing all that dirt, cause I cant see how we get that much dirt in the carpets. 🙂
 
Same with the Wind Tunnel. I'm emptying that thing like crazy. And, looking at the brushes they seem to be much longer and stiffer than any vacumn I've had before.
