upping voltage etc on 6800gt= ultra?

Upping the voltage can actually reduce the ablity to overclock. However, if you are looking to squeese every last bit out of your card then you might as well try.

I got a BFG 6800 GT and did the 1.4v volt mod and my "check optimal frequencies" went from
385/1.04 to 419/1.09

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=785299

Used the stock BFG speeds with 1.4 voltage bios.

Flash was a piece of cake. Dont even need to reboot. Do it all in windows. No floppy required. Now when I hit find optimal frequencies under Coolbits I get 418 / 1.09 That is a heck of an improvement with a simple bios volt mod. I will try the 1.5v after I test this more. Now no artifacts in Farcry with the higher frequencies. Also my idle core temp went up only 1 degree C with the volt mod.

Hope this helps someone.

Mixed bag.... upping Vcore causes more heat....then trying to OC causes even more....and unless you can dispate that heat you may OC less with this method.

And about the same on water.... I've tried it. max I hit either Vcore w/o arts is 455..natually I don't run at the cusp so I backed down to 448 with 1.3.

Just did it. The default voltage on my BFG 6800 NU OC was already 1.4 and it gave me "optimal" clock settings in coolbits of 354/709. I upped the voltage to 1.5 and I now get optimal settings of 368/737. This is with a softmodded 6800 btw

Graphics core : NV40 revision A1 (16x1,6vp)
Memory bus : 256-bit

going to see how far rivatuner will let me oc it now.. I am using stock cooling and idle temp is 53 degrees, same as the 1.4 volt setting

What did you use to up the voltage bios editor? and is there a chance if i give my 6800Nu 1.5
that it will no longer be able to boot?

i created a backup with nvflash and then used OmniExtremeEditFX.exe to modify that bios and create a new one. I then rebooted with the new vcore.. There is a slim chance you will damage it, but the chance is always there.

I saved a copy of my old bios so i could always revert back if need be.
