This just in at my workplace:

Attention every one: Since the weather seems to be getting worse, we're advise that everyone leave by 2:00PM at the latest. Thank you

Awesome! Did you not hear about the terrible weather yesterday? Was there not already an inch of ice with snow on top this morning when you drove to work? Why not tell us to leave work ASAP?!

PS: Milk mystery solved; someone put it in the freezer by accident

Attention workers: Because the Texas-sized asteroid that was predicted to hit earth is now confirmed to hit in the next hour, please leave work within the hour and have a prayer with your family. Thank you.

I can top that: when we all got into work yesterday, NONE of the managers were there. They all stayed home and not a fscking one of them called any of their direct reports to tell them to stay home.

Highlighted their narcissism in a wonderfully beautiful way.

so you're complaining because coming to work was something you either have to do or use a day off and they are giving you part of the day off for free and making it mandatory???

yes i understand there is a big storm coming and one that had already hit but they didnt even have to tell you that you could go home, let alone make it mandatory that you leave by 2pm

If they didn't tell us that we could go home early, I wouldn't have minded.
But ordering us to leave work, thereby leaving work undone is just aduh-duh.

Call the wahhbulance for me. At least I don't take push-over pills like you do and accept decisions made on a whim by management.

Only two people out of my team of 10 arrived today, and that includes the managers. We only got 1 freakin' inch of snow! This happens almost every Friday, too. This "work from home" policy abuse is getting on my nerves! I'd complain to the personnel manager about it, but guess where he is :)

I can't wait for the day when we ALL decide to work from home on the same day, and then we have a major network or UPS failure. That would get upper management's attention!
