Over the past few months i've been using Network Meter, the Windows 7 Gadget, to monitor my upload and download. I have 25/1 mbit internet. I just tried downloading a driver for my graphics card and showed my DL at 3mb/s which is fine, but my UL was also at 120kb/s (my max). I made sure to turn off every other application and I tried the download again, same deal.

Is it normal to be uploading at that speed when only downloading something from firefox (wasn't using P2P), and if not, what could possibly be going wrong?

TCP sends acknowledgment information back to the server you download from. In extreme ratios like 30:1 it is not unheard of the upload speed limiting the download speed.

I appreciate the quick reply.

30:1 does seem extremely high. I'm pretty sure I figured out the issue though. I changed something in the registry a couple weeks ago that (i just learned) increases TCP packets sent, to get better latency. I'm changing it back, restarting and I'll edit this post if it fixes my issue.

Edit: Changed the registry and it lowed the upload speed (obviously). Anyways, thanks for the help.
