Upload issues with PCI Wireless card

I first noticed this the other day when I tried to stream a video to my xbox 360 through my brand new computer and the video would only play in 3-5 second intervals and then show a loading screen for a few minutes.

From speedtest.net my desktops download speed is 9mbs and the upload speed is 0.26 mbs my 5 year old laptop has the same download speed but an average upload speed of 2.5 mbs

what could be some possible causes of the terrible upload speed on my desktop?

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit on the desktop with no firewall and clamwin antivirus and the latest drivers for the gigabyte GP-WP01GS pci wireless card.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Try moving it closer to the router for a test. The router has more powerful radios, allowing it to send data to the desktop easier than the desktop can send data back. Same physics as when you're loosing signal on a cell phone and you can hear the person on the good side, but they can't hear you.

Tried moving it closer to the router and no luck download speeds remain the same but upload speed is still around 0.2 mbs average.

I have also tried changing the wireless channel on the router to every possible option with no luck either.

"Un-join" the Xbox and computer from each other and turn off ICS. See if the speeds improve any on the desktop.

What connects the desktop to the internet? Wired or wireless? What connects the X360 and the desktop? Wired or Wireless?

If they're both wireless, you cut wireless bandwidth in half, and introduce much more traffic congestion.

the xbox is not connected to the computer it is wired to the router. The desktop is on wireless. The connection to the xbox will be solved the same time I figure out why the upload speed for the desktop is so low.

Nevermind, I just saw an optional update within vista for my wireless card and installed it and now my upload speed is 2.96 mbs average so it seems everything is fixed now.
