Upgrading

I'm upgrading my X600 on my Dimension E510, and i'm looking for the best video card to upgrade it to. I've been looking into the 7950GT, but i'm not sure if it's the best out there. I've heard that the X1900GT is the best single slot card, but I looked at some reviews on it and it didn't seem to outperform the 7950. Any ideas?

To outperform a 7950GT, you would have to go with at least an X1900XT which should be available for only a little more money, but will be louder, draw more power & has a two-slot cooling solution... the X1900GT is slightly slower then a 7900GT in most benchmarks.

x1900XT 256mb FTW

and this way the money that you save can be used towards a dx10 card when they come out.

BTW, what psu does your E510 have?

I'm upgrading the power supply to a 450W OCZ Modstream. It's the best deal i've found. I would get an X1900XT, but I need the single slot cooling. I was just wondering whether or not there was a better single slot card.

Single slot card wise, the top cards appear to be the 7950GT and the X1900GT. The 7950GT will probably whup up on the X1900GT in 3/4 of the games out, depending on the game, particularly if you leave the Nvidia drivers set down at quality IQ. The X1900GT is about $75 cheaper though. You might want to get a 7900GT and overclock it, the price gap will be much closer. Or you could get an X1900GT and overclock it like I did. If you do go for the X1900GT though, I would get the new version as it would run cooler in your setup.
