I'm thinking of upgrading my current system to a new AMD PCI-E system. Is this upgrade good or should I wait until something newer comes out like the G80 or the new M2 socket? I plan on overclocking my new system too.

Current system:
Intel P4 3Ghz 478
Abit IC7-G MAX II
Geforce 6800 GT
Audigy 2
4x512MB Corsair

To:
AMD X2 3800+
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939
Geforce 7800 GTX 512MB
Creative X-Fi Xtreme music
4x512MB Corsair (Same RAM)

That looks good. However, don't get the x-fi. Its really not worth it. I suggest dropping the x-fi, selling your 4x512mb ram, and picking up 2x1gb of some decent ram, (ocz platinum comes to mind). Or, you could stick with the same ram, and get a raptor 74gb to murder loading times. I was amazed what my raptor did to my bf2 loading times. I'm the first or 2nd person in on almost every server.

I think RAID 0 might be faster than a Raptor but I'm not sure.

However, why would anyone get a 7800 GTX paired with a puny X2 3800+???

Spending way too much is against my "religion" if you will but I'd go down to at least 7800 GT but I prefer 6800 GS for the price. Then I'd get a single core 3700+ again because of price/performance.

And if you have enough to spend on RAM, 2x1GB OCZ Platinum RAM.

If you have less money, I'd get a Fortron power supply. If I had more, I'd go for a Seasonic.

The best brands for motherboards as fas as I know are Asus, DFI and MSI.
