I've been thinking (wait for applause)...I have a 2200 dollar computer as of now, and I planned on upgrading every two years. Two years is quite a long time, and I'm one of those guys that needs pretty much top-of-the-line when it comes to computers. Two years ago, I was on an HP 2.53 P4 with a GeForce 440MX, which had cost about 1000 dollars. Two years from now, who knows what technology will be like? AMD will probably release a new socket by then, which means I'd have to get a new motherboard to last me the next two years. A new CPU probably, this 3500+ Winchester is already getting old (Venice and San Diegos already have me green with envy). My 6800GT will end up being like a 9600 or Ti is now, so I'll probably need a new video card. Might need new ram if AMD decides to move to DDR2, and probably a new hard drive (SATA will be old by then). The only things I'll end up keeping are my watercooling, case, and CD drives. Everything I mentioned there is probably about 1400 dollars and in essence, a totally new computer. So is upgrading a real option for us enthusiasts to prepare for? Or is it all an illusion?
 
If you had a 10 inch penis and had an option to get an extra 2 inches for $1400 would you?

The only thing I recommend for you is G70 or R520. Stop wasting money until the games that push your system to the limit come out. Go find a hot gf to waste your time now...or start saving for a Porsche.

I see what you're trying to say, but you used a weird analogy. Since computers are my hobby, I try to get the most out of it. But the size of my penis...

Yeah, but my motherboard is AGP. Two years from now, PCI-e might be the only option left. I'll probably wait even longer until I can't even play games on 800x600 anymore, but then I'll just get a new comp.
 
You have a decent system now... If you want to play more with it or change something for the fun of it, then that is a different story. Being "worth it" is a subjective decision.

The only major hardware changes that would be "worth" upgrading to in the near future are:

Dual Core CPU's
SLI/Crossfire GPU's

But I would let those technologies work themselves out in the market.

The set up you have now will be more than adequate for another year or two...
