DIs there a set date for the pci express motherboards and how much it will cost?
will there be socket 754 boards with pci express

And Will one need a upgrade to pci express or will a 9800pro still do
 
My advice to you, unless what you plan to upgrade costs less than $400, wait til June, that's when PCI-E is released, and this mystery is cleared up.
