I have a Compaq 5423EA (i don´t think that model is sold in US).
Athlon XP1500+
Motherboard: Compaq 073Ch
Via KT133 (Front side bus speed 2x133 Mhz)
256 Mb SDRAM

My question is: Can i use all of the current AMD XP processors (up to XP2100) if i want to upgrade? If i change the processor, do i have to change anything in BIOS? Unfortunately i don´t get any help from Compaqs support here in Sweden, they just say that this model haven´t been tested with any other processor!!

The KT133 does not support 2x133 Mhz but KT 133a does. I would not recommend you to upgrade your Compaq to any XP processor just for trouble.

Well, i guess it actually is the KT133A chipset in my computer. When i run SiSoftware Sandra it only says KT133, but also that the front side bus speed is 2x133 Mhz (266 Mhz data rate). Since there already is an XP processor in it i hope it´s possible to upgrade with a faster one.:)

With this mobo it's not worth the trouble upgrading from your current cpu. The memory is the bottleneck already.
