Upgrading Wireless (Home Use)

Hey guys,

I'm currently rocking an older pair of Linksys WRT54G routers with DD-WRT. One of them is starting to exhibit some flukey behavior and I believe it's starting to go out. As they're only a/b/g, I would like to upgrade.

So the home is a long, narrow, awkwardly shaped building with a TON of interference between either end. The building was constructed in 1909 and I estimate there are four sets of electrical and three sets of plumbing in the walls. As currently constructed, I have a router at either end of the home with a wired connection in between.

While DD-WRT has been great, I don't really use much of the features other than port forwarding and DynDNS. I was wondering if there are any new WAP/Repeaters/APs that I could use out-of-the-box without DD-WRT.

Thanks,

E

Hey guys,

Thanks for your quick replies. So would going with the Buffalo unit for my router and one of the Unifi APs be the best, most versatile solution?

Thanks,

Forget the Buffalo: keep one old router for actual routing. Turn off its radio. Get two UniFi access points for all the wireless.

If you want gigabit or some newer feature, replace the router later.
