Can I upgrade (not a clean install I want to keep everything thats on my comp) Windows 98 to Windows 98 Second Edition using the full install version cd of SE? (the version you can use if you don't have an Os on your system)

P.S I'm not interested in getting XP(and certainly not ME 😛)

There were at least three varieties of the W98se CD, and probably sub-varieties of the main ones. The most expensive would intall as an upgrade if so desired, as well as an original first install. The "regular" Upgrade version required that it see a prior version in some manner. You could show it a Win98 CD, and it would perform a clean install (there was supposedly an "update" version that only worked to upgrade a Win98 install, but I never saw a copy of that).

The least expensive version was the OEM, which had to be tricked into any use for upgrading, and for all I know, that trick somehow violated the EULA. Incidentally, I also removed XP from both of the computers that I tried it on, Home from one and Pro from the other. I have W2K and W98se, and am satisfied with those for now.
