Hi guys I just got this copy of windows 7 64 upgrade from my college for my desktop and realized i might as well use it for my laptop too... has anybody done this? or would i be better off doing a clean install. Thanks!

(The rig is a dell xps m1530. obviously i would have to find the 64 bit drivers)

You can not do a 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade, Windows 7 upgrade will not allow it. You have to do a clean install.

You can actually make it happen if you copy over config files and user accounts manually, but it's a real pain in the butt. Still, since it is mostly doable manually, Microsoft should have supported it as an upgrade path.
