Here's what I currently have:

GA-965P-DS3
2 GB memory
x1900xt
E6400
550W PSU

I haven't been keeping up to date but will I be limited by my CPU with one of these newer cards?

I mostly play WoW on a 24" monitor (1920x1200). It might not be the most demanding game but I like to play at the highest settings possible.

How is noise?

Any thoughts or am I good to go?

For WoW (lol) I think most people recommend NVIDIA cards for some reason or other. You'd be fine with a GTX260 and saving the money in difference. Hell, if you're satisfied with the way your X1900XT handles WoW, save you money all together.

At high settings and those resolutions the frame rates can drop quite a bit with a lot of people on the screen. I'm gonna give the x1900xt to a friend who plays at a lower resolution.

Save yourself some money and grab a 4830 or a 9800gt for 100 bucks. Should be a good upgrade from what you have.

Ok fair enough. Since I need to buy a card regardless though, and there aren't really any benchmarks for this game, then should I just get a GTX 260 and maybe upgrade to 4GB of memory?

If your board has a PCI Express slot, then it supports PCI express 2.0 cards. ;)

I seem to remember reading somewhere that WOW tends to run smoother on nvidia hardware than ati hardware. At least according to the benchmarks. Get something like a GTS250 they seem like great cards and a good price, although from what I've heard its just a re badged 9800GT which is also just a re badged 8800GT :)

from what you have heard? lol. well the gts250 is a rebadged 9800gtx+ which is of course a tad bit quicker than a 9800gt/8800gt.

Not so much reading an article about, but reading a review about a video card and what FPS it was getting in certain games. And if I remember correctly in WOW, nvidia cards pretty much pounced Ati's cards in every resolution just as Ati's cards pounced Nvidia's cards in GRID.

BFG Tech BFGEGTX260MC896OCE GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

Go with this BFG card for $178.99 and free shipping. No rebates to deal with and a great lifetime warranty.

Also this is the 216 core not the 192 core model. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

:)
