Nexus One for VZW.

I wish the iPhone was coming to Verizon, but... hate to say it, that's barely even a rumor.

I love WebOS and the Pre, but the OS itself needs some serious optimizations. Loading times could use improvement as well as multi-tasking. though, on the Pre Plus, the extra ram helps. More in the sense going from app to app is not so sluggish.

but the music app for example, takes a bit of time to read in my embedded album art. it's finicky, and quite annoying. So while it shares the Droid cpu, the Droid seems faster, likely because Android 2 is more mature. I have the Pre on Sprint, for reference.

But the Pre has the best size I think. I hate all the huge touchscreen smartphones.. feels like a brick, especially the Droid. But I'm a minority on this one. I would not mind the Eris form factor though.. with a snapdragon processor.

If you can wait, I'd see what Palm has to offer in the summer (they need to... or else they will slip too far, if they haven't already) and wait for the Nexus One/HTC Incredible/ or equivalent. If you absolutely need something tomorrow, Droid.

I've been using the pre on Sprint since launch. The benefits of the pre's are: multi touch capability, awesome keyboard, 3d gaming, and multi-tasking.

drawbacks are: speed. I mean they've improved on it a whole heck of a lot already, and to be honest, The multi-tasking to me is the big winner here. I can't imagine how else to make multi-tasking so intuitive!

My favorite part of the pre's are the homebrew apps! (I know android as an insane amount of them as well) and that the OS is stable! (hasn't crashed on me yet!) SCUMMVM is awesome on the pre too! Simon 1, Simon 2, Monkey 1,2,3, full throttle, oh oh and the holy grail.... Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! (FM-Towns version of course!)

does either the iphone or nexus1 play .wmv files and how are such files stored (expansion)? The google site for the latter is cool and all but it doesn't give much info.

Neither one of them will play WMV out of the box. You'd either have to find an app that does it or transcode your videos to a supported format. Or buy a WinMo phone :p
