I have the following system:

A7A266 motherboard with the 1011 Bios update
AMD 900 TBird
512 MB Crucial ram
ATI 8500LE video card
SoundBlaster Live sound card
10-100 Ethenet card
CD Rom
Philips 2400 CD-RW
Zip drive
30GB WD hard drive
Running in a full tower with 4 cooling fans.

I want to up grade to the AMD 2100XP. Since i'm not sure what to put
in here as the book that came with the motherboard don't cover this I
am asking for advice.

What is the best DDR memory to install. Also what switches do I have
to change in order for this to work right? Does anyone else run a
similar system and did you have any problems with it.

The system is running great right now and I hate to upgrade and then
have a piece of junk.

Thanks for any advice.

your board should be able to run the xp2100+ with no problems :)

you should download the manual for it (it will tell you exactly how you need to set up the board.. im not familiar with the a7a266 the ali chipset boards so i dont know if there are any jumpers you need to deal with or not)

it wont let me give you a direct link so if you want to download the manual
go to www.asus.com select "usa market" then select "service and support" then "download" then "motherboard" scroll down till you find "a7a266" the next page has a list of files the manual is one of them

good luck with your upgrade :)
