I've been waiting for the price cuts to start on AMD stuff when I realized I could use the Combo sales at MPC to get it right away. I got a 939 Venice in my Epox mobo so I decided to order the X2 3800+ and the Asrock Dual SATA2 mobo as a combo. I'm gonna stick the Venice in the Asrock mobo and OC it to 2.4 Ghz and put the 3800+ in the Epox and see how far I can take it(hoping for 2.6-2.8). The combo cost me just $222 and for $7 more I got Nero 7 retail box software. All you pay for is the shipping and the Nero 7 is free. Anybody who is thinking of going X2 in the wake of Conroe should jump on this deal. Thanks to whoever it was who posted about Monarch earlier today.

Right, but the expected shipping date is August 3rd. Might as well wait to see what the other retailers will be charging come Monday.

Yeah I saw that too but I'd rather lock in the order now. I got the feeling that a lot of people are going to be grabbing up every 3800+ they can get when the price drops. While Conroe definately wins the crown, a lot of folks dont want the hassle of getting a new mobo and ram, not to metion reinstalling everything. Getting the X2 at $154 is good enough for me as the lowest possible price I've heard is $149 on another thread in this forum. I can still cancel the order if competitors like newegg drop it to say $140 or maybe haggle a bit for a price match.

I looked at Monarch yesterday and I thought the ship date was going to be BEFORE August 3rd? Not AT August 3rd or After?? I may need to find the link again.

Got the confirmation email today and it looks like they will be sending it out next week. Its an awesome deal considering I wont have to buy an expensive new mobo and DDR2. I'm sticking with AMD because of all the good stuff I've gotten from them.

WTF, you can get a CPU+mobo for less then just the CPU. How retarded.

I will wait until the cpu's come down, then I get 2.

I don't want to buy the combo... I just want the 3800+ X2 since I already have a motherboard. I wish they were just selling CPUs at that price.
