Hello,

I just bought a T5500 from Dell, It came with the C2 All SATA drives, Non-RAID, 2 drive total configuration and I think the Integrated Intel chipset SATA 3.0Gb/s controller. I would like to upgrade it with a SSD with SATA 6Gb/s. From reading other forums, I think I need a different controller but is that all I need to make this work. I also saw I would need to do a few steps in the BIOS and windows 7 to properlly use the SSD as a boot drive. Does anyone have experience with this type of upgrade? Thanks in advance!

Hi there and welcome to the forums. I'm pretty sure you won't need to replace any controller. SATA3 is backwards compatible with SATA2.

Look for "AHCI" in the BIOS. This should be enabled when you install Win7 on your SSD. The rest should be pretty smooth.
