I am looking to upgrade to an Athlon 64 3200+. Currently I am looking at the Gigabyte "GA-K8NNXP"
Has anyone had any experience with this mobo. I would like a rock solid computer when I get done, Just want to make sure it is a good mobo for the job.

My system will look something like this:

Antec Truepower 480
Athlon 64 3200+
1 Gig Kingston Hyper X (2x512) 2-3-2-6 1T
Radeon 9600Pro
Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS
not to sure about the hard drive yet!

If overclcoking then try and wait for the next VIA and Nivida chipsets.

If not then look at the Albatron

Its the board I have and I like it a lot.

Not so much the overclocking I am worried about. I play a lot of FPS games online and I want a rock solid computer. I play for hours on end, so I need a mobo that can handle this kind of stress. I figured with all the added power this Mobo had, it would be great for what I want to use it for.

I would wait 2 weeks for the nforce3 250 boards. Alot of current boards have had compatability issues with memory. If you don't believe me, check the amd forums.

Its NOT only the board BUT the cpu.

I can run 1 slab of 512 PC3200 ram but not 2, UNLESS I lower the ram to PC2700

The next update to the mem controller (CH version) is supposed to allow more PC3200 population

I have seen some of the complaints about the memory compatability. I am starting to lean away from the Hyper X and towards Mushkin 2-2-2. Newegg is running a sale on this stuff, $244 for a gig. On Mushkins site it is $400. Must not be a good seller for Newegg. Anywho, I have to wait a bit any way, this upgrade is coming, courtesy of the federal government. Its the only good thing about tax time.

I figured if I started researching and asking questions now, I may be knowledgable about what I want, when the time comes. I was a little worried about the nforce3 150, considering everything I have read had was about the nforce3 250.

Ahhhhhhhh 1 more question. I was reading another thread on here, and they were talking about locking the AGP and PCI. That on the next set of motherboards to be released you are "SUPPOSE" to be able to lock these. My question is, what is accomplished when these are locked? (overclocking n00b) hehe

well, as you increase your FSB clock-speed normally the AGP and PCI speed increases too. This causes instability as it forces the AGP?PcI peripherals to work over their normal speed. Those AGP/PCI lock features keeps the speed in a fixed speed.

Ahhhh, ok. Thankyou for the info. I was thinking that may be the problem, but it was just a hunch on my part, as I have never OC'd anything YET!! Getting a new rig in the coming month, so we'll see. Just waiting for the newest nf3 250 Gb boards.
