Hi,

I have a question about the new KT133A motherboards and I'd appreciate it if anyone could possibly help me out.
Around July of last year I bought an AMD Thunderbird 900 (100 MHz FSB) system off of Gateway which came with an MSI board. While I haven't had any problems, I'm interested in upgrading to the ABIT KT7A-RAID mob that was recently reviewed here on Anandtech. My main concern is that I won't be able to run a 100 MHz processor on a KT133A motherboard. I haven't seen any information on this issue - would it work? Would I get any of the advantages of the new 133 FSB with my older 100 MHz FSB Thunderbird?

Thanks for your time,

CK

yes it would work just fine. You just wouldn't be taking advantage of the 133fsb unless you lowered your multiplier and then upped your fsb to 133 or higher.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Considering that as much as I've read, I still have yet to overclock or tweak my system (mostly because it's OEM), how complicated would it be to adjust the multiplier and FSB? Is there a reliable guide on one of the major tech sites that anyone could refer me to?

Thank you for all your help,

CK
