hi,
im planning to build a machine soon... three months ago i was thinking of a X2 3800, but now im thinking going the conroe path and getting the 6600.

Currently i have an athlon 2800+ with 1.5 gb of ddr ram and a geforce 6800 agp card.

the articles on the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA makes me think that im safe using my ram and my video card, i just want to know if this is a safe path as i cant find many reviews on the board and my system is almost 24/7 on. ill use a new coolermaster realpower 450 W PSU

My plan is to get the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA, use my old stuff and then when vista and dx10 cards show upgrade the system and be happy for 2-3 more years...

whats your opinion on my situation???

thx a lot

Your memory may or may not work. If it's slower than pc3200, you might get bluescreens. I would download the asrock manual and see what the memory settings are.

My Fiery Pentium 4 3GHz 530 Prescott running at 3510MHz is very happy with the stock heat sink fan combo with no heat problems.

I hear that the Conroe?s run so much cooler than the Prescott?s, even if you overclock it to its max on this motherboard, I don?t think its ever going to get as hot as my Prescott that?s happy with the stock cooling.
