Hi ,

I plan to buy a DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR when they come back into stock in the UK.

This is my first PCI-E card can anyone recommend a reasonable one not too expensive, I currently have an FX 5900 which is fine , so i want one similar in price and performance but i dont really understand the whole ATI X700/X800 and so on rating system.

Also i have 2 x 512mb GEiL PC4400 RAM will this be ok for the Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR or would i need DDR2 RAM ?

By the way is there anything else id need to change or upgrade for this board ?

DDR2 != Compatible with A64s. your ram is fine for the job.

Midrange->The XFX 6600GT has dual dvi, its a great card. What's your budget? High-end-> I'd take a X850 XT over dual 6800Us.

Not much point in buying an SLI motherboard if you're not going to run two video cards, is there?

As previously stated, DDR2 isn't compatible with NF4 motherboards. ATI doesn't offer SLI configurations yet, so I wouldn't worry about their (excellent) Radeon PCI-E solutions.

You can get GF6600GT cards for a very reasonable price, and they're much faster than your FX5900, especially under DX9 games. Make sure you buy a newer card that is SLI-ready. When you want more horsepower, just add a second card.

If your budget allows for you, you could start out with a 6800GT or 6800 Ultra card. Let your pocketbook be your guide.

Cheers for the info , Thats what i was planning to do in the long run is Buy 2 cards for SLI, but i havent got the money just now .

So i think i'll buy a GF6600GT and when needed just add another.

Ive kinda been waiting for this board for ages , since ive had the NFII Ultra and the 875PRO and i regard them as the 2 best boards ive had , but then i went and bought a Winchester so i couldnt go Lanparty with my 939 chip .

I hope the long wait is worth it :roll:
