My 9800 Pro is suppose to be here tomorrow but i'm afraid my power supply won't be enough to run it. I have a 350watt PSU but the name on the side of it is Powerup. The PSU came with my case which is a Enermax so I thought the PSU was the same. Right now i'm running 2 hard drives, sound card, TV tuner card, DVD-RW, DVD-ROM and my ATI 9000 pro. So if someone could let me know if the power supply will be enough or not and if not which ones would be it would be appreciated. I don't know too much about power supplys so thanks for the help.

9800 Pro requires 350W to run..But most no name PSUs have might say 350W, but they actually have less Wattage than that.. So it might or might not run. But to stay on the safe side, and to provide for future upgrading, I'd get a reputable PSU. eg antec etc.

It all depends on how your PSU is... I don't think I've heard of that brand before. I guess if it puts out the rated power reliably then you shouldnt have any problems.

My 9700 Pro is on an old 300W Antec: 1 HD, 2 optical drives, an Audigy and a 2100+ @ 2.2GHz... no problems here.

My brother has a 9800 Pro 256MB on a 350W Antec, 1 HD, 2 optical drives, 1GB RAM, and a 2500+ @ 2.2GHz... no problems there either.

Sorry, but simply not true. Upgraded a friends PC using an Athlon XP 2500 w/ 1GB PC3200 RAM, 2 HDs, 1 CDRW, 1 DVD reader and an ATI 9800 Pro. All have been running fine for almost a year on a 300W Enlight PSU that's at least 5 years old.

I will agree with you about the reputable brand. I'd look at brand (quality) over power output any day.

Seriously just buy a brand name PSU and be done with it. You wil be FINE with a 350W from a good brand like Antec/ Fortron/ Thermaltake/ PC P & C/ etc...

Those two PSUs you listed I have never heard of...but I would guess from the fact that a 450W supply costs $15 that it is a heap of junk.

That Thermaltake is a decent one to go with, but I personally am Biases towards Antec and Fortron due to their history of fantastic reliability.

I have a 360W Thermaltake which runs my 9800 Pro just fine. I think you're on the right track.

I like the Thermaltake brand, but like Comparisonman I'd pick an Antec. Might want to Google for some reviews on that PSU before you order. Apparently it can be fairly loud. Other than that the reviews have seemed positive.

I've saw a thread in here with their thermaltake PS dying after two months... and threads were they run just fine. So it's your choice... :)

Nowhere near 350watt power consumption. 50-100watts according to the exact model. The XTs use even less power.

I just read every review on the Thermaltake W0014 Silent Purepower 480W and some say its loud when the fans are all the way up, other say its quiet. I'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with it. Didn't see one review about it breaking.

Well, even an Antec can fail that fast.

On the whole, Thermaltake's PSU line is of a reasonably high quality. Maybe not up amongst the best but for the price/performance/reliability, they are the average enthusiasts dream.
