Upgrading system hdd, don't wanna install windows all over again...

I have 2 hdd, 20gig system one w/ xp pro, and 80 gig full of games and music. I want to get a bigger faster system drive, but I don't want to reinstall windows again (I have everything the way I like it). Can I just, plug the new one into the 80 gig position, copy everything from the other drive over, and then plug the new one in place of the 20 gig? Will it work right?

The other option to an image (if for some reason you can't or don't want to make an image) is to run a repair install of Windows. You don't lose your programs or settings, but you will have to reinstall any updates and service packs.

quik 411: you should really consider using your new faster drive for your O/S, even though you have to reinstall, the performance improvements may be worth the hassle.

If at least one of your hdd's is a Seagate or Maxtor. you can download software from their respective websites that will allow you to copy from your old drive to your new drive.
