Hey all, Im looking to upgrade in the next month or so and i need some advice on what would be a good overclocking setup. I've got a few hundred to spend, prolly $300-$400 for a mobo/ram/cpu setup. Right now im working with a P4 2.26 500mhz with XMS 3000 512mb on a Abit P533 E board (or something like that). Anyway Here's a few questions i have concerning my upgrading:

1)Should i buy new ram or simply add another 512mb stick of Corsair XMS to go along with my current ram? If i should buy new what kind would you recommend for overclocking? Is the XMS line good for overclocking anyway?

2)I had read somewhere that 2.26 was a really solid cpu for overclocking but when i got mine it was absolute garbage. I wont go into it but i can't even run some programs at it's stock speed, let alone overclocked speed. WHat's a good P4 to overclock right now? I've read 2.6c 800mhz is good?

3)What's a good o/c mobo? I've always liked Abit, Asus mobo's, are there any in this range that have good reviews? What other companies should i consider? I'm not looking for integrated anything, but i want a good solid mobo with good reviews. If i have to take the integrated i will.

My rig is more or less gaming oriented. I've got a 9700 Pro and I want a good combo to accompany that. I'm preparing for the Quake3/HL2/Unreal 2k4 bubble. So if anyone can send me some links to some reviews or give me some advice on what would be a good setup i'd appreciate it.

wait until Feb 2nd or so when prices may fall again at Prescott's release. I think you have a pretty good system now. I would wait as long as possible before upgrading. Hopefully, the btx boards and pci-express will be released later this year.
