So I purchased a Panasonic Showstopper PV-HS2000 ReplayTV unit off of eBay. A new unit supposedly bought from Sears. During the initial setup, I'm unable to dial in to the ReplayTV service via phone line, so the thing doesn't work. I call Panasonic and they said my unit is probably old and the software needs to be upgraded. They said to take it to a Sears Service Center. Sears won't accept it unless they have more purchase information. The eBay seller will not get back to me about this so I'm sort of screwed. Panasonic will charge $150 if I bypass Sears.
So I'm sitting here wondering if I can just do this myself. Panasonic says I can't, but I'm not sure I believe them. If there are people out there upgrading to newer hard drives, they have to be able to get the software onto it, right? Does anyone out there konw how to do this? Heard of this? Know of any websites with more information?
Any feedback is much appreciated
