Hello, I know this question may be a little amateur, but I have never had an easy time upgrading ram unless is just adding the same exact ram, just more of it.

Is there a specific way to upgrade your ram, specifically going from 800mhz to 1066mhz? More specifically with the nvida 780i boards.
I have 2 780i boards one running corsair ddr2 pc2 1066 and the other is running crucial ddr2 pc2 800mhz. I would like both of them to be running the corsair 1066.

When ever I try to change the ram, the board gets angry and won't post. Then I have to resort back to the 800mhz. Do I need to change settings in bios before I switch the ram? Is there anything that I need to do to get the computer to post on the first power cycle, or just post in general? I really feel like i'm missing something here. Thanks in advance M

I run a 790i board and it will not run anything greater than DDR3-1333 which is the official JEDEC spec. I tried to go faster and ended up with data corruption which hosed my Windows install.

I also cannot run the full 8GB max only 4GB in order to be fully stable.

DDR2-1066 is not the official DDR2 spec so you will probably have quite the struggle to get it to run at that speed on that motherboard.

Later nVidia Nforce motherboards did support DDR2-1066 officially but I'm not sure the 780i does.
