Upgrading primary OS in dual boot system

Hi all,
I'm running a dual boot setup with 98 and XP Pro. 98 was the first installation, so the boot.ini file resides in the 98 partition.
I'd like to upgrade the 98 partition to Win2K, ultimately having a 2k/XP system. Can I just upgrade the 98 to 2k? will that overwrite the boot.ini file? I'm concerned that if I do this I won't be able to boot to XP anymore.
Any help greatly appreciated.

It will boot without problems between WinXP and 2k; 2k will write the new boot file and you can edit it later to delete completly Win98 entry.

You may have to run the Recovery Console from the Win2K CD. You can use the
Bootcfg /rebuild command.
